A £1million scheme to restore a Grade I listed building at Taunton Castle has received a boost.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has made a grant of £86,900 for Castle House – and could pump in up to £450,000.
The building, which attracted 200 visitors during a Heritage Open Day this month, has already attracted a £330,000 handout from Viridor Credits.
The house, owned by the Somerset Building Preservation Trust, is undergoing work to turn it into historic holiday lettings.
