The Regal Archive Project is coming to Minehead’s Regal Theatre as part of Somerset Arts Week in a celebration of past artwork from September 18 to October 3.
The project is led by local artist Andy Davey, who has focused on the war years, post-war shows, rock ’n’ roll years and the theatre as a cinema.
Andy has documented an assortment of posters, programmes, photos and other memorabilia in film and photograph after members of the public brought their collections to a series of open days.
Highlights include a poster from 1938 advertising the Minehead Busmen's Ball.
The resulting artwork will be displayed during Somerset Art Weeks’ main event from September 18-October 3.
An open evening to celebrate the project is to be held on Thursday, September 30, from 6.30-7.30pm.
It is hoped that members of the public – especially those who contributed to the project, including students from West Somerset College – will attend the final exhibition of the work.
The exhibition is free to all and can be seen from 10am-3pm, Monday to Saturday.
