THE Queen has officially honoured a cloth manufacturer from Wellington.
Last week Janet Dalwood from Fox Brothers and Co at Tonedale Mill went to Buckingham Palace to receive an award for innovation presented to the company as part of the Queen's 80th birthday celebrations.
It is the third time that the company, which supplies fabric for some of the world's finest designers, has been recognised with the award but it is through the production of a CD archive allowing historic cloth to be accessed and reproduced that they have been honoured.
Janet wore a Fox flannel blazer to the official reception and was presented with a crystal bowl when she met the Queen and Prince Phillip.
Fox Brothers has been producing wool and worsted cloth in the town since 1772 and has a long history of supplying Saville Row tailors and designers.
The company is now entitled to fly the award flag and display the emblem on their letter headings and on their goods.
