EASTOVER Primary School in Bridgwater has bought a double decker bus – not for journeys, but as an extra teaching space.
The versatile bus can be used for lessons, as a cafe or as a soft play area for pre-school pupils.
It also has reading areas, teaching spaces, multi-sensory equipment and a kitchen.
The school bought the bus from the Yeovil-based charity Time Out Together, which had to close due to cuts in Government funding.
Tim Walters, head teacher, said: “The children are extremely excited about having the use of the bus for their lessons; it will no doubt be in great demand!
“We are indebted to Dana and Les of Time Out Together, for allowing us to have their cherished bus for the use of our pupils.”
Next Wednesday, Eastover Primary School is holding an open morning.
The school is particularly keen for adults who were pupils many years ago to attend.
They will have the chance to have their memories of their time at Eastover recorded, in preparation for the school’s 140th anniversary in 18 months’ time.
Places at the open day, which runs from 9.30am to 11.30am, are limited.
To book a place, phone the school on 01278-422693.
