Somerset County Gazette:

It is believed passengers were told that someone had jumped into the path of the train.

One commuter, who didn't wish to be named, said: "It started at 5pm after Bridgwater, just before Taunton.

"That whole line to Plymouth and Cornwall is closed from Burnham.

"The A38 is closed so the coaches coming from Bristol can't drop those travelling further south.

"I imagine many trains have been cancelled.

"The train manager and staff at Weston told us."
