Various different groups received funding from Wellington Town Council during its latest meeting on Monday night.

The Skintight Samba Band received a grant of £500 to go towards the cost of running workshops for recruiting new members.

Read Easy, an organisation that aims to help illiterate adults learn to read, received a grant of £1,500 to help anyone in Wellington that needs the service.

Superact has received a grant of £1,000 to help towards costs of Wellbeing Creative sessions for vulnerable people in the town.

St John’s Community Support Group applied for a grant of £500 to support a new group of volunteers. The councillors voted to grant this.

A grant of £590 was requested by Life Education Wessex to provide health, wellbeing, and drug prevention education to children at Rockwell Green Primary School. They will spend two days at the school delivering the workshops.

The Wellington Silver Band has received a grant to cover the costs of its Proms in the Park event. New rules from Taunton Deane Borough Council saw a change put in place for the use of the park. Next year the band will be able to use the park for free under the Friends of Wellington Park’s events. A grant of £750 was awarded.
