A CHARITY that organises weddings for terminally-ill people has been given vital support by a Taunton recruitment agency.

One Step Recruitment has been supporting the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation after being first introduced in 2015.

The foundation was set up by Naomi Thomas, of Wellington, who was herself diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, two days after getting engaged to her partner.

The recruitment agency has stepped in to make sure the charity was able to continue operating, as Mrs Thomas couldn’t justify using the charity’s money to pay a wage when it could be used for a wedding, despite struggling with administration.

Nick Mock, managing director of One Step Recruitment, said: “We are thrilled to support this local charity that brings such happiness to couples at their most vulnerable time.

“Having lost my wife to breast cancer, I admire Naomi for her dedication to the charity despite her own battle with cancer.”

Mr Mock gifted a member of staff to Naomi, husband Graham and the charity in 2015 after they met on ITV’s Surprise Surprise. One Step then re-approached the foundation to re-evaluate the charity’s staffing needs.

Following a lively Facebook campaign led by the charity, a new member of staff was then employed and funded by the recruitment agency.

The Wedding Wishing Well is now in its fifth year of operation.

Mrs Thomas said: “We cannot thank One Step Recruitment enough for the support they have given the charity since 2015.

“We are very proud to be working with such a fantastic local business.”
