A 102-year-old woman has just celebrated her birthday at a Wellington care home.
Edith Robinson turned 102 on July 29, and had a special party attended by her family and friends at Camelot House and Lodge, Taunton Road.
Edith was born in Manchester and has lived in many parts of the UK. She settled in Dulverton and says Somerset is her "favourite" county.
She worked as a clerical assistant and also work in retail.
She loved travelling around the country with her husband, Cliff, who she married in 1940.
During the Second World War she followed Cliff round the country, including in Ireland and Brighton, taking whatever jobs were available to enable the couple to stay together.
Cliff and Edith celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary in 2000 with a telegraph from the Queen. Sadly Cliff passed away in 2002.
Edith continues her life-long passion of knitting for her family, and also loves watching sports on television, particularly football and rugby.
She has an enduring passion for wildlife, which she still enjoys observing in the gardens of Camelot House and Lodge.
Bonnie Frear, deputy manager for Camelot House and Lodge, said: “Edith is a very special person and we felt privileged to be able to help her celebrate her 102nd birthday, which she seemed to thoroughly enjoy.”
