Thousands turn up for Taunton Christmas lights switch-on
THOUSANDS of people poured into Taunton town centre yesteday (November 18) ahead of the Christmas lights switch-on.
Taunton Town Centre Company planned the day's events which included bouncy castles, stalls, funfairs and street entertainment.
Taunton Academy Choir sang Christmas songs and band duo 'The Nameless Girls' performed on the Make Taunton Sparkle stage next to Market House.
In the build up to the switch-on, dance group Elementz - Dance Troupe performed and band Graffiti sang a cover set of well known songs.
Marcus Trescothick and Debbie Criddle turned this year's lights on and the Apple and Parrot pub in Taunton hosted an after party for people to continue the day's entertainment.

What I will comment on is the price of the stalls, £7 for goat curry, £7 for a large portion of Paella. Reminded me of that Apprentice task where they tried to flogg 'gormet' food for £8 a portion!
I also heard the rides were very expensive, £4 for a few minutes on a trampolene!
Yes they are there to make a living but charging soo much makes it a very expensive day out if you want some food and some fun and games.
