THE Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment appeal was boosted with a £563 donation from Burnham and District Model Railway Club this week.

Other donations to the County Gazette-backed SURE campaign to equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, include £25 from Mr and Mrs Fleming; £20 from Mr and Mrs Welsh; £20 from Mr and Mrs Leigh-Firbank; £30 from D.J. and E.M.J. Impey; £110 from Mr and Mrs White; £50 from L.J. and S. Rush; £25 from A. and C. Whitting; £43.95 from K. Simms, which included £33.95 in 5p coins; £18 from Norman Tomkie; £30.65 in 5ps from the Taunton Hard of Hearing Club; £80.10 in 5ps from Ilminster Pharmacy; £33.10 in 5ps from Jean Manley; £56.60, including £25 in 5ps, from the residents of Bernard Taylor Homes, Taunton; and an anonymous donation of £18 including £8 in 5ps.

Amanda Dinsdale raised £70.13 following the sale of witch and pumpkin packs at the Beacon Centre and Blackbrook Pavilion; Donna Crocker, of Hair and Beauty, Chard, raised £207 at an event at her salon during Chard Carnival evening; £243 has been donated by Julie and Richard Prowse and their friends and family; £166.05, including £133.65 in 5ps, received from the Beacon Centre; a donation of £50 from Mike Crew, of Wellington; and a further £42 in sponsorship from Dr John Crossman’s sponsored cycle from Sherborne to Taunton.

The total this week is £1,901.58, meaning £371,887.47 has been raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette.
