Commemoration Day at Taunton School saw the inauguration of a specially created sculpture.
It was designed as part of a senior school cross-curricular project to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the Great War, a conflict which witnessed the sacrifice of 168 Old Tauntonians.
Intended to double up as a sculpture and a usable seating area, the new ‘trench bench’ makes a striking addition to Densham Court.
The inauguration ceremony involved the county chairman of the Royal British Legion, Roger Duddridge, and Alec Young, the CCF’s RSM for 2013-14, cutting a set of red ribbons in front of an audience which included the school governors.
