A charity in Taunton was delighted after receiving support from the Taunton and District Carnival Committee.
The Samaritans were presented with a cheque for £2,500 from Marilyn House, chairman of the committee.
Director of the Samaritans in Taunton, Liz Payne said: "I am delighted to have been invited to receive this cheque on behalf of Samaritans, and also on behalf of all those callers who rely on us to provide a listening lifeline when they are most in need.
"As we receive no government funding, such tremendous local support is much appreciated, and helps significantly towards our running costs.
"This coming year we are actively looking to foster partnerships with local companies who may be interested in talking to us about ways in which we can help to encourage more volunteers to come forward."
