FIRE crews were mobilised to reports of a car on fire on the M5 this evening.

Two fire appliances from Wellington were sent to the scene of a vehicle fire on the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway between junctions 25 and 26. 

Firefighters arrived at 6.45pm and set about extinguishing the flames using two sets of breathing apparatus and a compressed foam jet.

The vehicle was severely damaged by fire and smoke but nobody is believe to have been injured during the incident.
