There have been traffic troubles in Norton Fitzwarren this morning and afternoon with a source saying the A358 is closed both directions from Cross Keys roundabout due to checks on a 'suspicious vehicle'.
The road closure is near Norton Manor Camp, the Royal Marine base, close to the Wyvale Garden Centre.
A nearby resident say that police have closed the road and she was informed it was not due to a crash.
The closure since this morning is having a knock on effect on roads in the area with queueing traffic on B3227 Wiveliscombe Road both ways near Rectory Road (Court Cottages). In the roadworks area.
Temporary traffic lights are in operation, for ongoing roadworks. Affecting motorists travelling between Taunton and Hillcommon.
