YOU may notice something very different driving into Taunton a week from today (Saturday, May 21).

That's because work starts on Monday to remove the disused rail bridge over Station Road.

A stretch of Station Road will be closed from 5am on Monday until 1pm on Friday (May 27).

Somerset County Council hopes the work will be completed by then - but just in case, it's booked a possible road closure from Tuesday (May 31) to Thursday (June 2) as well.

A replacement bridge will be installed later on as a connection for the two ends of the Northern Inner Distributor Road from Staplegrove Road, at Chip Lane, to Priory Avenue.

We're covering the progress every day until the removal of the bridge is complete - so come back and check out the latest as the work progresses.
