THE LibDem victory in the Parliamentary by-election in Richmond Park has been hailed as "a wake-up call for the Brexit Conservative government".

Gideon Amos, who hopes to stand for the party in the next General Election in Taunton Deane, added that there is still no plan for the country's future outside the European Union.

He said: "All the public is told is they face an extra £220 billion taxpayer bill and the likely break up of the UK.

"In contrast the LibDems in government delivered economic recovery and stability - both vital if public services already cut to the bone across Taunton Deane - are to survive.

"More people are voting for us now because only the LibDems will ensure we stay in the single market, get a say on the final deal on the EU and will bring back the tolerant, open and united country we all want to see back again."

Sarah Olney overturned a massive Conservative majority to take Richmond Park from Zac Goldsmith, who sparked the poll after resigning as a Conservative MP and standing as an independent in protest at plans for a third runway at Heathrow Airport.
