HOWZAT? Nine pupils from Wellington School have been selected to represent their counties - Somerset, Devon or Cornwall - at cricket.

Daisy Jeanes, in Year 9, will play for Somerset U13 Girls and has already been playing up in the U17 Somerset side due to her exceptional talent.

Also training with Somerset over the winter will be U12s Max Toohey and Josh Rowe, along with Year 11 student Ben Meek.

In the Devon County set-up, Will Scott-Munden, of Year 7, and Ollie Blakeman, in Year 8, have been called-up to the U11 and U12 sides respectively. Year 9’s Oliver O’Livey will also train with Devon over the winter in the U13 age group.

Boarders Ethan Badcock and Jacob Harvey have been selected to represent Cornwall at U13 level.

All players are part of an elite cricketing programme led by former Somerset county cricketer and Wellington School head of cricket Steffan Jones.

Alongside their studies, students on the programme receive one-to-one coaching and group sessions all year round, strength and conditioning training, nutritional advice and technical workshops run by ECB Level 3 and 4 coaches.
