SONYA Matthias has won a care home manager accolade set up in memory of the last Tommy standing.
Sonya, who has work at Pulsford Lodge, Wiveliscombe, for 24 years, is this year's recipient of Somerset Care Group's the Harry Patch Outstanding Manager Award.
She was commended at a presentation at Taunton Racecourse for "providing a high standard of care and dignity".
She said: “I feel extremely proud to have been presented with the Harry Patch award - it is both a privilege and an honour.
"I’ve been with Somerset Care since they first began in 1991 and strive for the best outcomes for the people that we support."
The Harry Patch award was first presented in 2009, following the death of the last British soldier to have fought in the First World War - he spent his final years in a Somerset Care home in Wells.
