A 60-YEAR-OLD man was taken to hospital after he was knocked over by a car outside a school during the morning school run.

Emergency services rushed to the scene near Kingsmead Community School in Wiveliscombe at around 8.30am this morning, after reports that there had been a crash between a man and a Kia Sportage car.

On arrival, the emergency services found a 60-year-old man had suffered injuries in the incident, and was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton for treatment.

It is not thought his injuries are serious.

The road was closed following the crash as police launched an investigation, and they have now also launched an appeal for witnesses/ A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at around 8.30am to a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian on Hartswell, near South Street.

“A 60-year-old man was injured in the incident, although it doesn’t appear that he has serious injuries.

“He was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital for treatment.

“The road was closed for a little while following the crash and was reopened at 9.20am.

“We are urging any witnesses of the incident to contact us on 101 and quote the crime log number of 159 to speak to us about this incident.”
