ORGANISERS of the Stogumber Festival have announced two leading classical and folk performers at this year’s event.

Headlining the classical programme are three members of the Hebrides Ensemble, a renowned Edinburgh-based collective, who will be performing pieces for piano, cello and clarinet.

Meanwhile top folk artist Steve Knightley will be giving a solo performance.

Described by Radio 2’s Mike Harding as “one of England’s greatest singer songwriters”, Knightley is one half of the enduringly popular Show of Hands folk duo.

Festival director Lance Moir said: “We are delighted that once again we have been able to attract artists of such calibre to perform in Stogumber.

“In addition to the headline acts, we can confirm concerts featuring a rising star of the Royal Opera House in baritone Ashley Riches, who will be accompanied by top Italian pianist Emma Abbate; young folk/roots singer, Luke Jackson, who last month won FATEA magazine’s Male Vocalist of the Year award, and the jazz/pop singer Gwyneth Herbert.”

The Stogumber Festival takes place from September 11-13 – tickets for all paid events will go on sale on May 15 on the Festival website – stogumberfestival.com
