HUNDREDS of people revelled in the 16th Annual Real Ale Festival held at Minehead Railway Station this weekend.

The popular festival is organised by the Somerset branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and featured more than 100 examples of the best of British cask conditioned ales on sale.

Punters enjoyed beverages from award-winning independent breweries in the local area, live music and the chance to enjoy their drinks either on the platform or in one of the train carriages acting as makeshift seating areas.

In addition to the cask ales there was also cider and perry on sale plus non-alcoholic drinks and food included a Saturday night hog roast, courtesy of the Yarn Market Hotel of Dunster.

Saturday evening entertainment was provided by the band 'Time Travellers' and Sunday lunchtime featured the return of the Tone Valley Jazz Band for their ever-popular afternoon of good music.

Minehead station manager Pam Hawkins said: "I think it was a very successful weekend, everyone seemed very bright and jolly and people seemed to enjoy themselves."
