FIREFIGHTERS were called to a property fire at sheltered accommodation in Minehead.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the incident at Halyard Place, Trinity Way, shortly after 6pm yesterday.
Two fire appliances from Minehead attended after receiving the call from careline reporting an alarm operating in one of the resident’s flats.
Upon arrival, the flats had been evacuated and after further investigations crews discovered there had been a small fire in a 2nd floor flat, involving a microwave.
The fire was out on arrival and crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the privately owned flat of smoke, before the microwave and area were made safe.
There were no casualties and no damage, other than to the microwave and food inside.
