TWO people were taken to hospital following a crash in West Somerset on Tuesday.

Firefighters released one elderly woman from a car, following a two car crash at Lype Hill between Timberscombe and Heath Pault Cross shortly before midday.

A spokesman from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "Crews from Minehead attended the incident between a car and a Luton type van.

"One elderly female trapped and released by crews using dedicated cutters and equipment.

"Casualties from both vehicles taken to hospital via land ambulances."

The ambulance service confirmed the woman was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital.
