FIRE ENGINES were called to Porlock High Street yesterday after a member of the public reported smoke and the smell of burning coming from a property.
The three crews, from Porlock and Minehead, were called to the fire shortly after 6.30pm.
On arrival the Porlock crews confirmed small amounts of smoke coming from a property so gained access to investigate.
The smoke was found to be coming from a pan that had been left on a cooker, so isolated the cooker and ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
The owner of the property was contacted by the Fire Service and given advice over the telephone.
