FIREFIGHTERS were called to a tree harvester on fire near Dulverton.
The blaze, which the fire service believe was started deliberately, broke out around 10pm on Saturday evening within a wooded area near Dyehouse Cross, Bury near Dulverton.
Firefighters from Dulverton and Bampton attended following several reports of a large vehicle on fire.
The crew found the vehicle well ablaze when they arrived and set to work using breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet.
A water shuttle was established from a nearby hydrant to assist in putting the fire out.
At 11.20pm the incident commander confirmed the tree harvester fire had been extinguished.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Resuce said: "The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate which resulted in the vehicle being completely destroyed."
