POLICE are appealing for information from the public about racist graffiti being written inside public toilets on Exmoor.
The latest incident happened between Sunday and Tuesday within a toilet block at Ashcombe in Simonsbath.
It follows previous incidents at these toilets and at public toilets in Winsford. There have been five other incidents reported since 2015, as well as further incidents within the Devon area.
PC Charlie Fitzpatrick said: “We’ve been looking into reports of racist graffiti written within public toilets on Exmoor since 2015.
“We believe the offender may have been disturbed during this latest incident as the graffiti appears to be unfinished.
“All the graffiti is written using a black marker pen within the toilet blocks and features anti-Semitic wording.
“We’re keeping an open mind as to whether the offender is local or just passing through the area.
“Racist graffiti is wholly unacceptable and we’re very keen to trace the person or people responsible. Any form of hate crime will never be tolerated.
“I’d like to speak to anyone who has seen graffiti being written within either of these toilets - particularly the Ashcombe toilets between Sunday and Tuesday.”
If you can help, please call PC Charlie Fitzpatrick via 101 and quote reference number 5216170141.
