THE TSB Bank in Minehead organised a 'Great British Bank Off' baking event and raised £100 for its homeless charity Minehead Hope Centre.

Four other Minehead banks and one building society took part in the event and entered cakes to help raise money for the charity – Yorkshire Building Society, Santander, NatWest, Barclays and HSBC.

The Bake Off-inspired challenge involved the banks all creating their own version of a 'layered' cake.

Students from Minehead Middle School visited the TSB branch to assess and grade each individual cake and nominate a winning cake based on flavour, texture, appearance and creativity.

Viv Doyle, manager of Yorkshire Building Society, won first prize with her interpretation of a Christmas-inspired multi-tree cake.

Adam Mills, TSB Bank manager at Minehead, said: “Minehead Hope Centre is a vital part of our local community and we’re really proud to have them as our local charity partner.

“Our team in Minehead have worked hard putting in a lot of time and dedication by to make the Great British Bank Off a success.

"We have really enjoyed our baking challenge and it is fantastic to know the difference that our efforts will make. Thanks also to the other banks in Minehead for taking part and helping us raise money for a great cause.”

Instead of having a centrally chosen charity of the year, partners working at TSB are encouraged to support a local cause that helps communities thrive.
