WATFORD hopes of ending on a winning note were crushed by Burnley's two goals in the second half. Graham Taylor's farewell and Burnely's hopes of players taking a final lap of honour were hit by a last-minute pitch invasion by home fans.
Some 2000 Watford fans or more turned up to say farewell to Graham Taylor, Luther Blissett and Tom Walley, while hoping Kenny Jackett would change his mind and make the trip to Turf Moor, despite his pre-match intimation that he was too upset by his sacking.
