THERE’S FA Cup action at Wordsworth Drive on Saturday when Taunton Town take on local rivals Bridgwater Town in a preliminary round tie, kick-off 3pm.

The Peacocks have yet to record a win this season, opening their league campaign with three successive draws and defeat at Tiverton.

In contrast, a reshaped Bridgwater side have won three and drawn one to sit in second place in the fledgling Calor League table.

A difficult tie has been made even more awkward for manager Leigh Robinson with the absence of defenders Ben Mammola and recent signing from Clevedon Town Steve Kingdon who are both unavailable.

Jamie Price’s chances of a return are rated as 50/50 while goalkeeper Lee Matthews is unlikely to be fit so Kyle Moore will continue to deputise.

Taunton travel to play Mangotsfield United in the Calor League next Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm. On the same evening Taunton Town Under 18s begin their Somerset Floodlight Youth League campaign with a trip to Brislington, kick-off 7.30pm.

The youth team were 8-0 winners in a friendly at Clyst Valley last Thursday thanks to a hat-trick from Zac Ryder and singles from Josh Wadham, Louis Gallagher, Liam Hooper, Jack Farmer and Sam Steel.

n LEIGH Robinson had cause for celebration this week when his partner Clare gave birth to a boy.
