THE battle for the Keyline Taunton Sunday League Division One title is reaching a cracking climax, with one point separating the top four.

Bathpool lost out on two vital points after being held 2-2 at Mariners, Mark Oram and Ian Salter fired Mariners into a two goal lead, Bathpool hit back with Dale Webber and Kieran Salter on target.

Tone Youth travelled to Churchinford and charged to the top of the league with a 5-0 win.

Jake Quick scored four for Tone and Adam Smith one, in a convincing win.

Hamilton also notched up a 5-0 win when they travelled to Old Inn, who were second at the start of the game, but with only 10 men they soon found themselves outclassed. Dave Richardson scored two, Luke Perry, Jamie Fleet and Ben Hodges all hit one as Hamilton moved within a point of the top two.

The defeat almost certainly ends Old Inn’s hopes as they have played three games more.

Division Two leaders Blue Park Rangers were without a game, so sat back and watched their rivals close the gap.

Watchet stay second after being held to a 3-3 draw at Cotford Saints.

Taunton North closed the gap on the leaders as they won 4-1 at Carhampton. They now stand nine points behind Blue Park but have three games in hand.

Castlemoat won 3-2 at Williton and Shepherds Rest claimed three points as Dunster failed to raise a team. In the third division, leaders Hamilton Reserves only managed a draw at Dulverton. Chai Pearce and Aaron Rennoldson scored for Hamilton, who also had a player sent off.

DB Old Boys dragged themselves level at the top as they were pushed all the way by struggling Hardly Athletic, finally pulling through 4-3. Trinity Rangers romped to a 7-1 away win at AFC Phoenix, while Sophies Ferrets drew 1-1 with Northern Lions.

White Hart picked up three points from AFC Phoenix who failed to show.
