British Gas Business League Division 1 (S&W): Taunton Town 1, Winchester City 1.

TAUNTON Town will consider their draw at home to Winchester City as teo points dropped after missing a host of opportunities.

Tom Collett gave them a deserved lead seven minutes before half time, but they should already have been out of sight after missing a number of chances.

They paid the price when the visitors scored from the penalty spot midway through the second period to claim a share of the spoils.

A frustrated Taunton boss Gary Domone said: "We should have won the game but didn't take our chances once again - it's as simple as that.

"I'm getting fed up saying the same thing, but we had enough opportunities to have sewn the game up by half-time.

"Other than that we played well for 70 minutes but got punished for a lapse in concentration. I asked the strikers to hold the ball up to take the pressure off but they lost it too easily and ten seconds later Winchester had won a penalty.

"But apart from those negatives, I felt we did okay and the side is starting to come together. I was very pleased with the defence which solid despite all the injuries we've suffered."

Taunton's back four included 19-year-old right back Stuart Nelson, signed from Yate Town last week, and he produced a good display on his debut.

Taunton started the game brightly and soon began to trouble the Winchester defence.

Midfielder Danny Lane had two great chances to open the scoring, as did Collett and fellow front man Carl Cliff-Brown, who missed with a header.

Collett eventually broke the deadlock as half-time approached, netting from close range after Matt Beadle's shot was parried.

Winchester seemed to take heart from Taunton's profligacy in front of goal and looked brighter after the break.

And they got their reward 24 minutes from time when Ben Curtis was penalised for a trip on Brett Williams. Adam George made no mistake from the spot.

Taunton thought they had a good shout for a penalty in the closing stages - when Collett appeared to have been fouled - but the referee disagreed.
