TAUNTON Town Football Club have selected a new club president to assume the role after the recent sad passing of Tom Harris.

Another long-standing stalwart in Harold Needs will assume the role after being involved with the Peacocks for over 60 years in a variety of roles.

Harold commented: "It is an honour and a privilege to be appointed Club President. After all the many years I have been involved with Taunton Town I still get great pleasure from attending games.

"The club has come such a long way since I first came on board all those years ago and I look forward to continuing to see the Peacocks progress.”

His love affair with the club beginning in the mid 1950’s when he attended a game along with wife Marina and was persuaded into helping on match days, going on to man the old pay box at the Hamilton Road end of the ground.

He has since gone on to provide many years of service to the club as a Director and in more recent years along with wife Marina as Boardroom Host for visiting officials, a role they both fulfilled with great dedication until stepping down in 2020.

Now they just enjoy watching the action both home and away, rarely missing a game.
