A GROUP of Taunton Town FC fans have officially launched a Supporters Trust for the club.

Last Friday (December 8) saw the foundation of Taunton Town Supporters Trust with a temporary committee formed.

The committee will see the trust through to the first AGM, which will be held at the end of the season, for which a date will be announced in the very near future.

Chris MacLeod, acting chairman of the trust said: "It has become clear over recent days and weeks that the need for a Supporters Group of some form is at a greater height of urgency than perhaps had so far been the case.

"This is why the choice to form a temporary committee was made, to avoid any unnecessary delay, and enable us to progress with establishing the Trust, organising a public meeting, and to guide us through until the AGM. It will also provide the elected full Committee the benefit of operating an already established Group.

"We will take the opportunity to respond just briefly to those concerns amongst Supporters and the statement from Chairman Kevin Sturmey issued on Thursday 07 December 2023.

"We completely understand supporters concerns at this worrying time, and share these concerns, which ultimately is why this Group has been formed. We believe our Fan base is a credit to the club and will continue to be so, it is a time for everyone concerned to come together for the good of the Club."

The Supporters Trust has invited nominations for positions on the committee for Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Committee Members (maximum six).

In the first instance these are to be directed to  peacockstrust.chairman@gmail.com

Information regarding membership will be provided at the time of the Public Meeting, and advertised more broadly after.
