"People of Taunton…WE NEED YOU!"

That is the call from Taunton Town Football club as they face their most important week of the football season.

The Peacocks battle to stay in the National League South, comes to a conclusion on April 20 and they have five games left to hold off relegation and a return to Southern League football.

Four of those games are at Wordsworth Drive and the first of those are tonight (Thursday 11th) against Slough Town 19:45 kick off.

“This is when we need the whole Town to get behind us. The 12th man is going to help the boys try and get over that safety line,” said Taunton’s Peacock Radio commentator Rich Willcox-Smith.

“We have 5 huge games. One tough away game, and four at home. And with a big support that could make all the difference between safety and relegation.”

This season has definitely been one to remember both on and off the pitch. With the club being top in September, financial problems, the wet weather and problems with the pitch meaning a large number of games being postponed and having to fit them now at the end of the season means Town are squeezing 7 games into last two weeks.

“The games just keep coming. The games next week are HUGE with a capital H! Torquay who are battling with issues similar to ours on financial and survival terms first, followed by Weston-Super-Mare and the final game against Hemel Hempstead," Rich added.

"The players would really appreciate to hear and see the terraces full cheering them on to 3 points. And points at this stage of the season are so important!”

Taunton currently have everything to play for and have fate in their own hands. Sitting 22nd and two points from safety with five games left to play.

Rich finished by saying: “Survival at this league would mean so much to the club and the Town. To have a football at this level really helps put us on the sporting map. With the town of this size, it would be great to be attracting big crowds for these games and help pull the boys over the line to hopefully safety, and another season at NLS."

Tickets are available to purchase online or on the day and if you cannot be there at Wordsworth Drive or for the away game at Farnborough on Saturday, then Peacocks Radio have live coverage from every game.
