Errea Somerset County League Premier Division: Frome Town Reserves 1, Bishops Lydeard 3.
BISHOPS Lydeard bounced back from the previous week’s home defeat with victory away to Frome Town Reserves on Saturday.
The visitors were able to give a game to Bideford’s ex-Torquay United midfielder Matt Hockley, thanks to a connection with the North Devon club. He played alongside Torquay fan Lee Palk in the centre of midfield.
Lydeard were not at their best, but always had the edge and went ahead through Matt Fowler’s right-footed effort.
Frome levelled before the interval but Lydeard looked the more threatening side after half-time and resotred their advantage when George Painter’s header from a corner was saved and Andy Lawton followed up to score.
Man of the match Fowler sealed victory late on with a cracking left-footed drive from 25 yards.
Lydeard are away to Division Two East highflyers Peasedown in the Somerset Senior Cup.
