Toolstation League Division One: Almondsbury UWE 3, Minehead 1.
MINEHEAD crashed back down to earth following their defeat of Division One highflyers Gillingham in the cup, with defeat at Almondsbury UWE on Saturday.
The Bristol-side went ahead early on when former Taunton and Wellington player Danny Cockram netted from the penalty spot after a handball.
Sam Clark lobbed Ben Lewis on ten minutes to increase the hosts’ lead and things went from bad to worse for Minehead when Lewis was forced off injured and outfield player Ben Flatley had to take over in goal.
Flatley then had to pick the ball out of the goal just before the break, Clark firing home after the stand-in keeper had kept out Levi Marlow’s shot.
After the break, Minehead were reduced to ten men when Nuno Felix was sent off following an altercation. However, the Blues did manage a consolation goal, with Nelson Monhon netting late on.
