THREE pairs finished with 44 points in Pickeridge’s Halloween Stableford four ball better ball on Saturday.

After countback, first place went to Mark Ramsden and Martyn Brown from Max Putnam and Michael Fudge, Neil McWilliams and S. Wallbutton.

In fourth place with 43 points were Harry Brown and Malcolm Mynett followed by Ian and John Snell, Colin Russell and Duncan Farrow, Dennis Breakwell and Nigel Thomas, who all carded 41 points.

In the Midweek Stableford last Wednesday, Ken Swain with 38 ponts took the top spot followed by Chris Nicholls 36, Adrian Barratt 36, Bob Lyon 35 and Michael Fudge 35 points.

Last Tuesday’s Ladies Bowmaker was won by Lennox Heath, Vicky Davies and Judy Powell with 70 points.

Carole Rotheram, Sheila Beresford and Senya Westwater took second place with 69 points with Roisin Burree, Judy McKerracher and Corrine Lyon third on 62. Theresa Dowsett, Mary Perrett and Vi Gray were in fourth place with 61 points.

WELLINGTON father and son Kelvin and Matt Woodgate became the first pair to book their place in the knock-out stages of the men's Winter Foursomes at their home club, Tiverton, after winning the opening medal qualifier on Saturday. Kelvin, playing off eight, and Matt, off five, carded a nett 68.5 to pip Graham Clarke and Mike Cottrell, who came in with a 69.

The Woodgates will be hoping to build on their 2008/9 campaign, when they lost in the semis to eventual champions Steve Garland and John Hanson.

MATT Betteridge scored 44 points to win Division One of Saturday’s Stableford competition at Taunton Vale.

Former club captain Paul Chesney was second but only after countback edged him ahead of third placed Dan Smith after both returned with 41 points.

Will Scott headed Division Two with 44 points, with Adrian Jones pipping Michael Parsons to second after both scored 43. John Earp was the clear winner in Division Three with 45 points, four clear of second placed Lee Ward with 41, who had a one point advantage over third placed Mike Saffin.

Another former club captain Pete Lang was the winner in the top division of the previous week’s Stableford with 40 points, one ahead of young James Keitch. Chris Wyatt was third with 38.

Russell Peck took the honours in Division Two with 43 points and John Mullen won Division Three with 43.

John Morgan was the winner of the Scratch Knock Out Cup which has been taking place throughout the summer, with Dan Keitch runner-up.

Ron Brown won the Summer Singles ahead of runner up Andy Jones.

The Summer Pairs mens competition was won by Pete Scarratt and Ross McKechan with Pete Lang and Barrie Glenton runners up. The Summer Mixed Pairs was won by Terina Marney and Kevin Parker, with Jenny and Alan King ending as runners up.

Terry Hodge scored 42 points to win Division One of the September Running Stableford.
