ADAM Pengilly, from Creech St Michael, has today (Friday) been named in Great Britain’s Winter Olympics team.

The 32-year-old former Heathfield School student and Kristen Bromley will represent Team GB in the men’s skeleton bobsleigh event at the Vancouver games, which get underway on February 12.

An excited Pengilly said: “I just can’t wait to get stuck in and hurtle down that track as fast as I possibly can.”

Pengilly finished eighth in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and won a silver medal in last year’s World Championships.

The men’s skeleton event at the Winter Olympics takes place at Whistler in Canada on February 18 and 19.

Team GB’s Winter Olympics team consists of 52 athletes from six sports and 11 disciplines.
