SOMERSET'S Craig Kieswetter was named man of the match as England defeated Australia by seven wickets in the final of the ICC World Twenty20 in Barbados yesterday.
The wicket-keeper batsman top scored with 63 from 49 balls to help England win their first ICC limited-overs tournament.
The opener shared in a second wicket stand of 101 with Kevin Pietersen as England chased down Australia’s 147-6 three overs remaining.
Kieswetter hit seven fours and two sixes, including a remarkable one-handed effort over deep backward square leg off Dirk Nannes.
It was his first half century of the tournament, although he and opening partner Michael Lumb consistently got their side off to flying starts throughout the tournament.
Kieswetter said: "It's been a great experience, to play against the Australians in the final makes it all much better."
Somerset will now fly back to rejoin his Somerset team-mates.
