A REMARKABLE three Bagborough players hit centuries in their side’s to a 132-run victory away to Mark in Division Four of the Somerset League on Saturday.

Dan Tompkins (104), skipper John Bishop (135) and Tom Eve (104 not out) were all in the runs as the visitors piled up an incredible 394-3 batting first.

Tompkins and Bishop shared a double-century partnership for the second wicket, while Eve’s ton came in under 15 overs.

Mark made a decent fist of their reply, reaching 262-7, but were always going to fall well short. Craig Mason picked up 3-58 for Bagborough.

Taunton St Andrews A suffered a heavy 149-run defeat at home to Wells Wanderers, who batted first and scored a hefty 287-9, S. Barker making 121.

That was despite the efforts of R. Puzey, who picked up 5-58. Saints were then bowled out for 138, B. Burge hitting 47.

Wellington moved into an outright lead at the top of Division One following their 39-run victory at home to North Petherton on Saturday.

Opener Michael Gill made 60 and, later in the innings, Rob Moysey hit 35, as Wellington hauled themselves up to 177-9 at tea.

North Petherton were left to rue regular falling wickets as the were all out 40 runs short of victory with the best part of 12 overs left to bat.

Skipper Paul Short picked up 4-26 and Moysey 3-45 to do the damage for Wellington, who have won all three league matches and are 19 points clear.

Taunton CS Radiac and Outcasts and Staplegrove both suffered their first defeats.

TCSRO bowled out their visitors Purnells for 155 in the final over of the innings, with Luke Desave picking up 4-21. However, an awful batting display saw the home team skittled out for 87 in the 25th over, Desave top scoring with 22.

Ashbrittle skipper Andy Hill inspired his side to their first victory since winning promotion, a 44-run triumph away to Staplegrove.

Rob Hill top scored with 63 as the visitors reached 189-8 batting first. Brother Andy then bagged superb figures of 7-19 as the hosts were dismissed for 145, skipper Dan Sizer making 39.

Watchet also picked up their first victory since winning promotion as they beat relegated Barrington by 24 runs.

Phillip Milton (34), Andy Martin (32) and Ryan Strong (32) all made contributions as hosts Watchet reached 191-7. Matt Lovell and Martin Strong snapped up three wickets apiece to restrict Barrington to 167-9.

In Division Two, Stogumber got back to winning ways in comprehensive fashion as they defeated visiting Castle Cary by nine wickets.

The visitors were skittled out for just 116 batting first – Daniel Barnes (6-39) and James Rexworthy (4-49) did the damage. Stogumber then cruised home in just 15 overs with Simon Penny making 49 and James Weetch 42.

In Division Three, North Curry went down by four wickets at home to Kilmington and Stourton.

James Midgely top scored with 60 to help Curry make 201-8 but that proved insufficient as the visitors made it home with three wickets intact and two overs left.

Curry Rivel piled up 292-7 at Fitzhead with half centuries from H. Paget-Wilkes (72) and P. Tilley (50). Fitzhead were then bowled out for 193 with Laurence Burns making 46 and Tilley bagging 4-21.

In Division Five, Ian Keitch hit an amazing 132 from just 87 balls, including 14 fours and five sixes, as Taunton Deane Cavaliers smashed 297-2 at home to Westonzoyland.

Paul Hannaford also hit 70 for Deane, who then bowled the visitors out for just 75 with John Ponte snapping up 5-23.

Nigel Manley made 51 and Malcolm Pressly-Smith 42 as Taunton A reached 173-9 at home to Baltsonsborough. However, the visitors edged to their target with eight wickets down.

S. Coe hit 59 as Sampford Arundel passed Broadway and Horton’s 172-8 with three wickets intact.

DAVE Procter made a fine 89 as Bishops Lydeard overhauled Westlands’ 166 all out with just three wickets down in Division One of the 2nd XI League.

In Division Two, Trevor Brooks made 110 and Julian Jones 79 as Wellington piled up 300-7 at away to Wells. The visitors were then bowled out for 186 with the wickets shared around.
