SKIPPER Marcus Trescothick aims to maintain Somerset's 100% record in the Clydesdale Bank 40 before entering the competition break.

Somerset take on Group A’s bottom side Worcestershire at Bath on Sunday (1.45pm), looking to make it five wins from as many games. The competition then enters a break for the Twenty20 Cup and Somerset don’t play again until July 25.

Each side plays 12 games with the top side in each of the three groups and the best runner-up qualifying for the semi-finals.

Somerset, who beat Sussex at Taunton on Saturday top Group A.

Trescothick said: “It was great for us to beat Sussex and make it four wins out of four.

“Sussex are a very consistent one day team, but thanks to some key performances from James Hildreth and Jos Buttler we got home.

“Somerset are playing together well as a unit and we are quite strong in all departments so there is a nice feel about the place at the moment.

“The ideal scenario would be for us to win all five of our games in the first part of the competition and end at the top of the table before we have a break for the Twenty20 Cup.

“However we can’t take any game lightly whether our opponents are at the bottom or at the top of the table.

“We have to put in a performance in every game if we want to get a result and that’s what we will be trying to do against Worcestershire at Bath.”

All-rounder Pete Trego said: “We want to keep on steaming ahead and have got our eyes set on making it all the way to Lord’s in this competition.

"You have to go into every game thinking that you can win it and I think that with Marcus as our captain and Andy Hurry as head coach we have got that belief in the camp that we can enjoy success in every competition.

“Every sport is about building up momentum and once you have got it you never want to give it back so we will be looking to keep hold of it."

Somerset will be strengthened by the return of Craig Kieswetter from England duty on Sunday, something that is likely to cause the selectors a few headaches, given the success his replacement Buttler has enjoyed.

Meanwhile the Cidermen are in LV Championship action again on Monday when they entertain Warwickshire at the County Ground, 11am start.
