STEVE Perkins has been appointed manager of Watchet Town last Friday and has immediately set his sights on the Somerset league title.
The 34-year-old, who played in Watchet’s midfield towards the end of last season, formerly managed Minehead and has coached at both Wellington and Bridgwater.
Perkins said this week: “My role will be more as a coach than a manager. I will be spending most of my time on the pitch trying to develop the players we have than bringing a lot of new faces in.
“The team finished fourth in the premier division of the Somerset County League last season and I will be looking to improve on that.
“I have one objective and that is to win the league. I am not looking for us to finish anywhere outside the top one."
Perkins replaces Steve Monaghan who was unable to continue due to work commitments.
