BLAGDON Hill’s crushing win against Timberscombe on Saturday has put them up in third in Division 1 of the West Somerset League.
Lawton (26), opening the batting, made his intentions known from the off, making light work of scoring runs off the opening bowler Wookey (1-74 off 10).
Captain Ali Blundell (65) and Dan Spinton (43) then set about entertaining their fellow players and spectators with some fantastic huge hitting to put a total of 239 on the board. Had Golding opened down the Hill rather than coming on second change up, maybe the score could have been a lot less. He finished with figures of 5-67 off his 11 overs. Virgin also finishing with respectable figures of 4-45 off 10.4.
After tea it was time to see what Timberscombe could do with the bat – a big ask. After some stubborn and well- paced batting by the opening partnership of Lang (18) and Virgin (16) it was the 13th over that Blagdon Hill had the breakthrough required, Parsons (4-41 off 12) dismissing both openers fourballs apart. Captain Ali Blundell (4-45 off 12) teamed up with Parsons to bowl the away side out way short of the total set as Timberscombe ended 120 all out.
