WELLINGTON got their Somerset Cricket Board Indoor League Division A campaign off to a fine start with a four wicket win over Minehead at SCCC's Indoor School.
Alex Sparks asked the Seasiders to bat first and was pleased with his side's bowling and fielding efforts.
Luke Desave let just 12 runs go in his three overs and trapped James Weetch LBW for just six along the way as his excellent off side line was maintained.
George Hooper bowled better than his figures suggest as Buchanan with 30 not out found the back wall twice. But he stuck to his task well and fielded excellently as did Ollie Wilkins on his indoor debut.
Paul Short and Neil Hendy continued the fine bowling effort for Wellington as their combination of spin and swing saw only 13 runs scored in Minehead’s in their last three overs despite Squire making 30 not out.
Wellington, who were set 104 to win in 12 overs, made a find start with Alex Sparks and Neil Hendy taking 20 from the opening two overs.
Stuart Tudball produced two fine yorkers in the space of three balls to wrest the momentum away from Wellington, but Paul Short (25 not) and Luke Desave (28 not) guided both the ball and their side towards two points.
George Hooper finished the match with a crunching back wall four off of Crompton to see that Wellington to victory with nine balls to spare.
