TAUNTON Cricket Club members gathered at Taunton School recently to celebrate the season with a 2017 Awards and Presentation Evening.

Many of the successful under-15s were in attendance and picked up a number of the senior awards.

The awards were presented by club president Nigel Manley.

First team player of the season and match winners award winner Blake Coburn was absent due to the season back in New Zealand being in full swing, where he starred on debut for Canterbury with a seven-fer to continue his success from the season.

First team players’ player winner Will Abell is playing at the same club as Blake in the off-season, emphasising the ongoing progress at Taunton Cricket Club.

Third team player of the year, Prateek Chowdry, was also absent, ill, on the night.

James Flatt and Max Toohey are under-15s and Reyhan Taraq is under-14, illustrating how the junior section are getting chances to shine in the senior section to be a focal point of the club.

Many times this season, the first team included as many as six under-17s in the side, which ended mid-table in WEPL2 and was competitive with those youngsters in the side.

The club would like to thank Taunton School for hosting the event and Cooper Associates for their continued support.

Winter training begins in the New Year in the club’s indoor dome for those interested in joining the club where Somerset play their second team home games and some first team pre-season friendlies.
