TAUNTON racegoers are in for a real treat on Tuesday afternoon when the Orchard Portman course hosts the Royal Bath and West Show Race Meeting which gets underway at 2pm.

With 59 runners declared for the seven race card all of the leading trainers have entries including Colin Tizzard, Paul Nicholls Dan Skelton and Venetia Williams and Aidan Coleman, Sam Twiston-Davies, Denis O’Regan and Tom Scudamore all booked for rides another great afternoon’s action looks to be in store.

The big race of the day is the Bathwick Tyres Handicap Hurdle at 4.10pm a Class 2 event that runs over two miles and half a furlong and carries a massive £18,000 in prizes.

This is likely to be a fiercely contested race but Qualando trained by Nicholls with seven pound claimer Harry Cobden and Sea Wall from Chris Gordon’s yard under Tom Cannon are both worthy of consideration.

The Hunter Chase for the Richard Williams Trophy 35 minutes later over two miles has got 13 runners and is likely to attract huge interest from the local Point to Point followers.

A courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Railway Station two hours before the first race and returns from the course half an hour after the start of the last.
