Wiveliscombe 67 Nailsea & Backwell 7

WIVELISCOMBE ended up having a much easier 80 minutes than expected after Nailsea & Backwell arrived with a weakened squad of players for this rearranged Somerset Premier match.

The home team were in no mood to take things easy and the visitors were limited to just a couple of scoring opportunities.

Wivey, on the other hand, took the opportunity to play with freedom and eventually crossed for 11 tries.

Jake Sharland, playing at full-back, was in sparkling form and scored a hat-trick of tries in the first half outpacing the visitors’ defence on each occasion.

Number eight Alistair Vivian, who has been a real acquisition for Wivey, crossed for two tries with scrum-half Hugh Kelly adding Wivey’s sixth try before the break. Fly-half George Rowe was successful with three conversions.

Nailsea, to their credit, ran what limited possession they won and were rewarded with a try from centre Josh Goodman.

During a one-sided second half, Alistair Vivian crossed for his third try of the game, George Rowe added two tries with Ted Keay and second row Ross Pearson also scoring. Rowe added three more conversions to to his first-half tally.
