RUNNING Forever members Peter Hall, Martin Webb and Adrian Edwards took part in the Devon Coast to Coast event which is 117 miles of self-navigated running from Wembury to Lynmouth and over some of the most challenging terrain in the South West.

Hall and Webb completed 108 miles in 40 hours before the organisers opted to stop the race due to atrocious weather conditions on Exmoor.

Edwards completed 85 miles before a knee injury cut short (if you can call 85 miles short) his race.

Ed Bailey also took the long option this weekend when he took part in the Liverpool to Manchester 50-mile ultra.

He finished in the top 100 to earn a gold medal for his 10.23 effort.

Seasoned marathoner Claire Allison was running for chocolate in the Dinton Easter Challenge marathon which not only rewarded her with a medal but also with a huge array of chocolate to fill her goody bag.

Ray Tutton and Lucy Spring made a good start to the weekend by finishing Good Friday 10-miler in Chippenham in times of 1.11 and 1.35 respectively.

A holiday in the Isle of Man provided Ben and Ola Timpson with race opportunities.

Ben completed the Peel Hill Race which apparently more than lived up to its name, while Ola took part in the 10K with a finishing time of 1.01.

A good contingent of members hopped over to Yeovilton for the Yeovil RRC Easter Bunny 10K.

First runner home was Dave Bullock, fresh from his Welsh altitude training camp, in 48.55. Pat Date (50.16), Carl Moppet (53.03), Goff Welchman (54.09), Sally Tuer (54.15) and Ed Loat (57.15) weren’t far off.

Pete Stretton and Gill Taunton finished together in 1.03 with Eliza squelching through in 1.07.

There were a trio of 1.09 finishers - Ali Wasey, Duncan Gordon and Cathie Welchman - with Kirsti Nelson following in their wake in 1.10.

First lady bouncing over the line was Hannah Taunton (in her TAC guise) in 37.20, finishing 14th out of the 400 runners.

On her way, she battled through 400m of flood water - some up to her knees - with big stretches of the course waterlogged.

Somerset County Gazette:

Meanwhile, Rowland Lyons returned a Burnham personal worst (26:14), ultimately paying for a slow, congested start as he finished 97th out of 296.
