TAUNTON Titans recorded their fourth win on the road this season with a 28-19 success at Shelford near Cambridge yesterday.

For the second week in a row Taunton had to come from behind at half time.

But in a very controlled second-half performance they restricted Shelford to just two penalties while the Titans went on to score two converted tries and kicked two penalties to claim the victory and deny the home side a bonus point.

Shelford made the better start with a penalty kicked in the fourth minute by fly-half Steven Smith.

Then after just ten minutes he converted the try scored by centre Grant Anderson after a good chip over the defence to re-gather and score under posts.

Titans regrouped and the next ten minutes they closed the gap with a penalty through man-of-the- match Gary Kingdom who attacked at every opportunity and was solid in defence throughout.

Titans also scored a try through winger Oly Massy-Birch who finished off a great team try wide out.

Titans then conceded a needless penalty on the stroke of half time to go in trailing 13-8.

The second half was an exciting affair with both teams testing defences time and again but it was the visitors that took control and made the most of the opportunities that arose.

They scored a try through scrum half Lewis Webb who darted over close to the breakdown with Kingdom adding the extras.

This gave the Titans the lead for the first time which they never conceded.

Kingdom added another penalty to extend their lead before Shelford kicked one in return.

Then Massy-Birch scored his second try after a great one-two with Webb down the wing. Kingdom added the conversion as well as another penalty.

Smith replied with a penalty for Shelford but by then the game was gone.

Titans had a chance to claim the bonus point try when Massy-Birch attacked once more and made a sublime off-load for Kingdom to exploit but unfortunately he was held up short of the line.
