TITANS forwards coach, Chris Brown praised the ‘outstanding’ efforts of his pack during Saturday’s victory over Bishops Stortford.

Brown was particularly pleased with the scrummaging and lineout work of his forwards in turning over Stortford ball on numerous occasions – but admitted second-half errors almost cost the Titans.

Brown said: “After missing out on the play off last season to Bishops we knew this was going to be a tough examination and they didn’t disappoint.

“However at certain points, we were our own worst enemy giving away soft tries.

“We were lucky really to go in a half-time in front thanks to another Jack Claydon try.

“That impetus just before the break gave us the energy to push on in the second half but again our mistakes nearly cost us.

“To not concede when we had men in the sin bin was crucial and to score as soon as we were back to 15 men was a perfect way to show what we are capable of with men running direct and at pace.

“I thought the forward pack were outstanding in the set piece, turning over the opposition ball in the lineout and scrum.

“I also thought that we should our mental strength and belief in each other’s ability and the way we play, to come back from behind several times.”
